Spoken Word Paris: Alberto's notes from Sins 13th July 09

The night was good! (unexpectly)
When I arrived the culture rapide was completely empty and dead.
And so it was even at 9.15 except Michele.
I was kind of letting Michele doing a one man show when everybody arrived
together in almost 10 minutes and I had like 26 poets on stage.
some old glories, (John, Colin, Susan, Maxim, Helen and the surprising comeback of Leemore)
and some totally new and some from abroad.

I founded and run SpokenWord because it's fun. And sometimes transcendent. Because I love words and spoken poetry. Paris is a beautiful backwater where life is slower than New York or London, it gives breathing space, distance from the anglo metropoles that supports writing. & the English-speaking community here is just the right size to come together and do something, to provide a home/platform for, to nurture and be nourished by, our/your poetry, stories and songs. A space in which to create something fun, and sometimes sublime. - David
